ANGELA MEDLIN

After 25 years in the global apparel industry as a Design Director and Lead Designer in global brands include Nike, Adidas, The North Face, Eddie Bauer, and Levi Strauss & Co. Angela Medlin, moved on from her leadership position as Apparel Design Director at Nike/Jordan to establish the Functional Apparel & Accessories Studio (FAAS). Designing activewear, sportswear, and outerwear collections for men and women for almost three decades, allowed Angela to develop a passion for problem solving through smart construction and performance materials. Now, in FAAS, Angela prioritizes two goals:

COACH FUTURE DESIGNERS TO BE SOLUTIONEERS

Through mentoring and coaching, Angela seeks to usher the next generation of ‘solutioneers’ into the global product design industry. She shares her approach to product creation (part instinct, part research, part process, part team work, and grounded in story telling) with her students to challenge them to create with purpose.

DIVERSIFY THE APPAREL & ACCESSORIES INDUSTRY

Through outreach, mentoring, public speaking, and brand advocacy, Angela brings awareness to opportunities available to those interested in pursuing a career in the apparel industry that may not know where to begin or are simply under represented in the industry. Scholarships will be offered throughout the program to give super achievers a chance for strong start. Potential designers will have the opportunity to jumpstart their education or introduction to the industry through juried competitions, workshops, and 12 week intensive programs.
